This introductory class will give you the hands-on knowledge you need to develop practical, deployable computer vision systems using OpenCV and Python.
If you are considering signing up for this training course, you’ll almost certainly want to register for the first two days of the Embedded Vision Summit. The Summit is your gateway to a world of information on practical computer vision. Inspiring keynote presentations, dozens of practical sessions that help you deploy embedded vision products, and the Vision Technology Showcase, where top suppliers are on hand with your projects in mind and the tools you need to achieve your vision.
Computer Vision Applications in OpenCV
Date: Monday. May 20, 2019 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Location: The Embedded Vision Summit, Santa Clara, California.
In this course, we will start with the basics of OpenCV, the world’s most popular open source computer vision library. We will learn many algorithms implemented in OpenCV and how they are used to build real world applications like image classification, object detection, face recognition, and many more.
This is a workshop for engineers and programmers. We will learn enough theory to understand the ideas behind the algorithms, but we will not drown ourselves in complex mathematical equations.
The workshop is designed for beginners in mind. The only pre-requisite is an intermediate level of knowledge in Python3. If you are rusty on Python, check python.org/3/tutorial/.
No knowledge of computer vision, machine learning, or Al is required.
You will need to bring your own laptop with OpenCV and Python3 installed on it. You can install them with the following:
pip3 install opencv-contrib-python==188.8.131.52
About the Instructor:
Dr. Satya Mallick is the Interim CEO of OpenCV.org and is the founder of Big Vision LLC, a San Diego, California based company that specializes in computer vision, machine learning, deep learning and artificial intelligence consulting services and products. He is also the principal author of a popular computer vision blog https://www.learnopencv.com .
Dr. Mallick is an accomplished computer vision and machine learning scientist and engineer. He has worked on a variety of problems including face processing (detection, recognition), object recognition using deep learning, computational photography, augmented reality, document analysis, 3D reconstruction, medical image processing, and 3D cryo-electron microscopy to name a few. He has published several research papers in top notch conferences and journals.
At Big Vision LLC, Dr. Mallick and his team work with companies to solve computer vision and machine learning problems that have huge real world impact in terms of speed and accuracy of algorithms, reduction in manual work, and identification and creation of intellectual property.
Prior to starting Big Vision, Dr. Mallick had co-founded and was the CTO (R&D) of Sight Commerce Inc. — a computer vision company that creates vision and learning solutions for the beauty and fashion industry. He oversaw research, design and implementation of computer vision and machine learning algorithms and systems.
Dr. Mallick did his Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego.
