Qualcomm is determined to provide best in class AI hardware solutions, enabling companies to leverage AI acceleration in their products. But how can developers know what is the best hardware for their models? Comparing AI hardware is not as simple as it might seem; there are many caveats that need to be considered, such as INT8 and floating-point benefits, how commercial benchmarks are structured and what is the hardware optimized for. Qualcomm chips score at the top of commercial benchmarks. Nonetheless, we are devoted to enlightening our partners and developers about what is the best solution for their specific needs. In this talk you will learn about some of the most common ways of comparing AI hardware and what you need to consider in order to make an accurate assessment.

Session Speakers

  • Felix Baum is responsible for AI software products at Qualcomm Technologies Inc. (QTI). Felix has spent 20+ years in the embedded industry, both as an embedded developer and as a product manager. He previously led QTI product management for Hexagon software, supporting DSPs with scalar, vector and tensor accelerators for camera, video, machine learning and audio verticals. Prior to that, he led marketing and product management efforts for various real-time operating system technologies. His career began at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology, designing flight software for various spacecraft and managing integration for a launch campaign of the GRACE mission. Felix holds a master’s degree in computer science from the California State University at Northridge and a Master of Business Administration from the University of California at Los Angeles.
