Eye tracking is an increasingly important technology for applications ranging from augmented and virtual reality head-mounted displays to automotive driver monitoring. In this talk, we will introduce eye tracking techniques and technical challenges. We will also explore camera and computational requirements for eye tracking, and highlight selected use cases and applications.

Session Speakers

  • Peter Milford is a physicist with a Ph.D. in astrophysics from the University of Queensland, Brisbane Australia. At Eyefluence Inc. he was CTO and VP Engineering. Eyefluence was a venture-funded startup created to transform intent into action through your eyes, developing wearable eye tracking and eye tracking-enabled user interfaces. At Eyefluence, Peter led the multi-disciplinary engineering team, growing it to over 30 people with successful deliveries to a number of large customers. Eyefluence was acquired by Google in 2016, and Peter continued his eye interaction work there. Currently, he is President of Parallel Rules Inc., a consulting company specializing in image processing, sensors, algorithms and real-time control. He also advises a number of startups in AR/VR and eye-tracking space.
