Consumer robotics and home AIoT (artificial intelligence of things) have been maturing in recent years, and now it seems that there is a robot for every task in the home. The usefulness of an AI home robot depends on the functionality it provides, the ease with which humans can interact with it and its price. These attributes, in turn, depend heavily on the robot’s “brain” – its computing capability. Based on his experience developing multiple home robot products, Zhe will share his insights into the modern SoCs that power these devices. He’ll compare the performance and capabilities of these SoCs, and highlight important trends and likely future developments.

  • As Founder and CEO of Trifo, Zhe Zhang has devoted his career to bringing enhanced performance and affordability to consumer robotics, AR and software engineering. Founded in 2016, Trifo is a Silicon Valley-based AI home robot company. Trifo home robots aim to provide families the optimal balance between family, work and personal life. Prior to the creation of Trifo, Zhang led sparse/dense mapping and pose tracking efforts at Magic Leap. He also drove Magic Leap’s technical evaluation program for outside partner companies. Before Magic Leap, Zhang worked at Microsoft Research where he focused on mapping, localization, navigation and self-recharge solutions for a prototype consumer robot. He then moved to the Microsoft Bing division, where he built a large-scale developer platform for image data services. Zhang earned a Ph.D. degree in Robotics from State University of New York and a B.S. degree in Automation from Tsinghua University.
