Dr. Kit Thambiratnam is General Manager of the Seedland AI Center, building AI residential communities. Kit is an AI veteran with an 18-year career spanning vision, speech, natural language processing and internet-scale data. At Seedland, he is pioneering the use of AI cameras, mics and sensors for residential lifestyle, security and retail. Prior to Seedland, Kit was Group Engineering Manager for Microsoft Bing Video Search, and oversaw 100M+ user growth through product and technical innovation. His group made industry-leading advances in AI, including scoring #1 in the global NIST Face Recognition evaluation. Prior to Bing, Kit was Lead Researcher with Microsoft Research in speech recognition, where he contributed to breakthrough research leading to multiple products, including Skype Translator (real-time translation of phone calls) and MAVIS Azure Media Services (award-winning cloud service for media search). In 2011, his system was used to deliver the world’s first keynote machine-translated live from English to Chinese. Kit has published 30+ papers and patents.
