In this roundtable discussion, we’ll explore the question: Does AI really require GPUs and other special-purpose architectures, or can today’s standard CPUs do the job? We’ll look at cutting-edge applications in healthcare and video analytics to take a full-circle view of all the factors—including but not limited to performance—that impact real-world commercialization. Gary Brown
Director of Edge AI Marketing, Intel

Gary Brown is director of marketing at Intel’s IoT Group, leading Edge AI portfolio marketing and evangelism. He has most recently overseen the product launches of edge AI products such as Intel Movidius VPUs (Vision Processor Units) and other IoT Vision products that include AI technologies. Gary has over 25 years of experience leading marketing and applications engineering teams in vision, imaging and audio. Prior to Intel, he was VP of Marketing at Movidius, and he led product marketing for imaging/video products at Tensilica and Cadence. Gary holds a Masters in EE from Stanford and a Bachelors in Engineering from UC Berkeley.

AJ Frazer
VP Business Development, Agent Vi

As VP Business Development at Agent Vi, Frazer is in close contact with end users exploring video analytics to increase their security profile while also maximizing their CCTV investment. Mr. Frazer has extensive product and business development experience with complex video & data products and services. His career includes work with systems integrators designing and fielding large video networks for federal, civil, and commercial programs. His prior work with municipal and federal public safety projects has given him keen insights into the challenges of specifying and deploying emerging technologies over top legacy data networks. Mr. Frazer holds Bachelor’s Degrees in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics from the Virginia Polytechnic and State University.

Sheldon Fernandez
CEO, DarwinAI

Sheldon Fernandez is the CEO of DarwinAI, a seasoned executive and respected thought leader who applies emerging AI technologies to the enterprise. Since 2017, Sheldon has led DarwinAI to enable enterprises to build trustworthy AI. The company has many accolades, including CB Insight’s 2020 ‘AI 100’ list, and DarwinAI’s solutions are leveraged in many industries including advanced manufacturing and healthcare. Sheldon is an accomplished author and speaker, having spoken at numerous events, including Singularity University and MIT technology conference, and he has written on many topics. Throughout his career, Sheldon has coupled his entrepreneurial endeavors with non-technical pursuits, resulting in an interdisciplinary approach that is critical to the intelligent application of AI. In addition to his BASc in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo, he completed a Master’s degree in theology at the University of Toronto with thesis work in neuroscience and metaethics and pursued creative writing at Oxford University.
