In this session, Jeff Bier will continue his exploration of the most important recent developments and trends in the fast-moving world of visual AI technologies and applications. Jeff will explain why “Smart Spaces” applications (encompassing smart home, smart city, retail, logistics, manufacturing and other place-based applications) are some of the most exciting and promising emerging opportunities for edge AI and vision technologies, and will highlight example solutions that illustrate the vast opportunities in this realm. Jeff will also examine important trends in embedded vision algorithms and processors, drawing on results from the Alliance’s Computer Vision Developer Survey. Finally, Jeff will share highlights of today’s Summit program, equipping you to organize your time to get the most out of the event.

  • Jeff Bier is President of the engineering consulting firm BDTI and Founder of the Edge AI and Vision Alliance. For over 25 years BDTI has helped hundreds of companies select the right processors, algorithms and tools and develop optimized, custom algorithms and software for demanding applications in audio, video, machine learning and computer vision. Jeff is a frequently invited speaker at industry conferences. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from Princeton and UC Berkeley, respectively.
