In many computer vision applications, a key challenge is maintaining accuracy when the real world is changing. In this presentation, we’ll explore techniques for designing hardware and software to stave off obsolescence by allowing users to interact with the output of the computer vision system as quickly and cheaply as possible, so that future errors are avoided. We’ll also discuss ways to motivate users to provide useful feedback. We’ll illustrate these concepts using a deployed commercial application.

  • As a successful entrepreneur who has taken companies from startup to IPO, Erik jumped at the chance of attacking a large, under-served market and co-founded Observa. His past includes creating digital marketplaces, profitably merging technology companies, and being the Senior Engineering Manager at Isilon during its $2.25B acquisition. Erik’s engineering prowess was put to the test developing the initial Observa platform, keeping him out of the mountains… well, at least on poor weather days.
