In this session, Jeff Bier (Founder of the Edge AI and Vision Alliance and Program Chair for the Embedded Vision Summit) will share an insider’s perspective on some of the most important recent developments and trends in the fast-moving world of perceptual AI technologies and applications. Jeff will highlight some of the most exciting and promising emerging opportunities for these technologies, such as field and fleet operations and autonomous robots. Jeff will also examine how embedded vision development practices are changing, and shine a light on the most common pain points reported by developers, drawing on results from the Alliance’s Computer Vision Developer Survey. Finally, Jeff will provide an orientation on the Summit program, highlighting must-see sessions and hidden gems, and equipping you to organize your time to get the most out of the event.

  • Jeff Bier is President of the engineering consulting firm BDTI and Founder of the Edge AI and Vision Alliance. For over 25 years BDTI has helped hundreds of companies select the right processors, algorithms and tools and develop optimized, custom algorithms and software for demanding applications in audio, video, machine learning and computer vision. Jeff also oversees the Edge AI and VIsion Alliance, a partnership of 100+ technology companies that works to enable the widespread use of practical computer vision and to help companies find their best opportunities in this burgeoning space. Jeff is a frequent invited speaker at industry conferences. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from Princeton and UC Berkeley, respectively.
