Spyros Tragoudas received his Diploma in Computer Engineering from the University of Patras (Greece) in 1986, and MS and PhD degrees in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Dallas in 1988 and 1991. He is a Professor and Director of the School of Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC). He is the Director of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Industry-University Cooperative Research Center (IUCRC) for Interconnected, Distributed Embedded Applications, and Systems (IDEAS) at its SIUC site and the Director of the Consortium for Embedded Systems at SIUC. He has held prior appointments with the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department faculty at The University of Arizona and the Computer Science Department at SIUC and has directed another NSF IUCRC at SIUC for 13 years. His research interests are embedded systems, electronic design automation and machine learning. Dr. Tragoudas has published over 300 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, including five best paper awards. His research has been funded by federal agencies and industry. He has served and is currently serving on the editorial board of several journals and the technical program committees of many conferences. He has supervised over 30 Ph.D. Dissertations and over 80 MS theses.
