Akram Sheriff is a Senior Software Engineering leader for AI, ML and generative AI with the Cisco CX Cloud engineering team. Akram holds 40+ software patents, with others pending. He specializes in wireless protocols and software stacks for IoT products and leads various IoT product series. He also specializes in data security and cloud security for RAG-based LLMs and generative AI architectures. In 2017 Akram and a team of two others conceived, architected and built a SaaS product to solve an energy optimization problem, leveraging AI, IoT, data streaming frameworks, WiFi, BLE and RFID technologies to deliver a prototype, for which he won a Cisco Global Innovation award. Akram is an active peer reviewer of IEEE research papers in AI/ML, wireless, IoT, and generative AI domains. He is a frequent presenter at internal Cisco conferences as well as external conferences on topics related to AI/ML, wireless networking, IoT and cloud technologies.
