As demand rises for vision capabilities in robotics, virtual/augmented reality, drones and automotive, there’s a growing need for systems to incorporate multiple cameras. However, the limited number of camera interfaces on SoCs poses a challenge. In this presentation, we will explain a variety of techniques using the MIPI CSI standard to overcome SoC interface limitations and connect multiple high-resolution cameras to systems effectively.

  • Karthick Kumaran has an impressive career spanning over 18 years and stands as a distinguished expert in the Embedded Multimedia Domain. His journey is marked by significant contributions to video codec software development, algorithm optimization showcasing his deep technical expertise and innovative approach. His expertise extends to the intricate processes of complex end-to-end system software development for Virtual Reality, Consumer Robotics and Video Surveillance/Conferencing products on various embedded SoCs. Currently, Karthick is at the forefront of virtual reality advancements as a Staff Software Engineer at Meta Platforms Inc., where he leads the Virtual Reality Camera Software team. His leadership is instrumental in shaping the future of immersive experiences, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in virtual reality. Before his tenure at Meta, Karthick worked at Amazon within the Consumer Robotics Division where he played a pivotal role in pioneering consumer robotics technologies. His career also includes valuable experiences at various startups where innovation was key to his professional growth.
