\nPart 1:<\/span> Data Augmentation \u2014 Training Better Image Classification Models with Less Data

\nImage classification can be tricky, especially as objects may appear under different lighting conditions and in different locations, orientations or zoom levels. While capturing new, original data is the ideal approach for creating a robust dataset for machine learning model training, we can use data augmentation to automatically generate data when original data capture is overly difficult or time consuming.\nIn this workshop, we will use Google Colab and Edge Impulse to examine various image augmentation techniques to generate new data from a small initial dataset.\n

\nPart 2:<\/span> Develop and Deploy Vision Models at the Edge \u2013 with No Code

\nIn this workshop, attendees will learn how to quickly and easily create vision models and deploy them at the edge without writing code. We\u2019ll work hands-on with the Edge Impulse cloud-based development environment to develop a model, and then deploy it on hardware using a Texas Instruments SK-TDA4VM starter kit. The SK-TDA4VM starter kit is based on TI\u2019s TDA4VM processor, which features 8 TOPS of deep learning performance and low power consumption. This combination of development techniques, tools and hardware is ideally suited to a wide range of vision applications, including industrial, agriculture and security applications.\n

Shawn is a machine learning DevRel engineer, instructor, and university program manager at Edge Impulse. He creates compelling technical videos, courses, and blog posts around edge machine learning and embedded systems that inspire and teach engineers of all skill levels. Shawn is an advocate for enriching education through STEM and believes that the best marketing comes from teaching. <\/span>Part 2:<\/strong> Jenny Plunkett<\/span> jenny@edgeimpulse.com<\/span><\/a><\/p>

Jenny Plunkett is a Senior Developer Relations Engineer at Edge Impulse, where she is a technical speaker, developer evangelist, and technical content creator. She’s co-author of the O’Reilly book “AI at the Edge: Solving Real World Problems with Embedded Machine Learning” and has presented workshops and tech talks for major tech conferences such as the Grace Hopper Celebration, Edge AI Summit, Embedded Vision Summit, and more. In addition to maintaining the Edge Impulse documentation, she has also created developer-facing resources for Arm Mbed OS and Pelion IoT. Jenny previously worked as a software engineer and IoT consultant for Arm Mbed and Pelion. She graduated with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.<\/span><\/p>
