Dr. Mahbubul Alam is a Chief Research Scientist at Hitachi America’s Industrial AI Lab, where he translates complex business challenges into deployable, real-world AI solutions. He brings 16 years of academic and industry experience in machine learning, deep learning and computer vision, with particular emphasis on industrial visual inspection, predictive maintenance and automation. Dr. Alam earned his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Old Dominion University, where his research introduced novel deep learning methods for solving challenging computer vision problems. He received his BS and MS degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from Jahangirnagar University, graduating with the highest academic distinction and receiving the University Gold Medal. Dr. Alam has more than 4,000 Google Scholar citations, is a Marquis Who’s Who Honored Listee for 2025 and serves as a reviewer for leading IEEE journals. His work bridges AI theory with scalable industrial applications.
