Dr. Sam Kavusi is an engineering executive with over 20 years of experience scaling AI-enabled imaging systems and medical devices at Google, Verily and Bosch. A Stanford Electrical Engineering PhD, he focuses on integrating on-device AI and computational imaging to translate advanced R & D into clinical impact. Sam co-founded Alphabet’s Retina-AI Program, architecting an FDA-cleared retinal imaging system that reduced failure rates from 30% to 3% while drastically cutting costs. This platform, deployed across ten states, leveraged embedded AI to democratize screening for preventable blindness. He has led multidisciplinary teams to create over $1B in enterprise value and holds a deep patent portfolio in retina imaging, biosensors and IC design. Beyond his executive roles, Sam has served on technical committees for IEEE ISSCC, OSA CLEO and FDA CCOI and advises deep-tech start-ups on strategy and development.
