Dan Bricarello joined Brambles in 2017 and over the last eight years has led a variety of computer vision and data science projects. Joining as a Data Scientist, he began working on methods to track Brambles’ wood pallets as they travel through their service center. Now, as a Computer Vision Lead, he leads a team of engineers working on AI-based computer vision technologies to track assets as they travel between regional service centers across the supply chain. The industrial machine vision systems deployed at Brambles generate millions of images monthly that need to be curated for use in developing object detection, image classification and action recognition AI models. Before joining Brambles, Dan earned a PhD in Applied Science Engineering from UC Davis with a research focus on analysis of images captured from bright field, fluorescent and scanning probe microscopy as well as thin film ellipsometry. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics from UC San Diego.
